Laurence Anslow FRAS, FBIS
Special guest speaker at the monthly ‘Starlight Odyssey’ sessions, Laurence’s passion for astronomy is incredibly inspirational and extremely contagious! He is a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society, an Honorary Member of the British Astronomical Association, and a Fellow of the British Interplanetary Society.
Inspired through visits with the late TV astronomer Patrick Moore, he taught astronomy at The Winston Churchill School and authored The Official Halley’s Comet Project Book. Translated into several languages, this sold around the world. In 2012, Laurence received the prestigious BBC Sky at Night Magazine Award for ‘Achievement in Amateur Astronomy’.
Having helped establish this planetarium, he provides educational talks (including at U3A) and continues his work from a home observatory supported by an extensive astronomy library.
